A hectic day

Did an operation today to settle my rig's overheating problem. Decided to remove the processor heat sink and processor to reapply thermal paste and reseat them properly. The processor temperature dropped drastically to around 67 deg Celsius from almost 100 earlier.
Apparently one of the pins of the heatsink fan was not properly seated and the contact between the heatsink and processor was not good. To hell with Intel's 775 heatsink pins...

Received an email today from Cary in reply to my earlier email.

Siew Kiat asked for advice to compress pictures. She has indeed thrown herself into her school blog and puttin more gadgets into it. Pretty amazing for someone who picked up computer stuff at a later age.

New Toy

Upgraded my rig at home to an E8200 2.66GHz processor and upgraded the graphics card to a MSI NX880GT 512MB card. The rig nows screams but is plaqued with overheating problem. The Corsair XMS DHX 2MB Ram gave way and the rig just locked up and couldn't start at all. It was only after replacing the RAM that it works again but the processor temperature still runs very high at nearly 100 degress Celsius. Suspected problem: thermal paste not applied properly and inadequate cooling.

Earth Day 22 April

It's Earth Day today.
I screened the documentary "Earth" to all the pupils and teachers in my school today to create awareness of the obligation to save our lucky planet. The documentary is an award winning 2 hour show by BBC Worldwide featuring a journey from the North Pole to the South Pole with 4 major animals namely The Polar Bear, The Birds, The Elephants and the Humpback Whale. All the children and teachers were captivated by the stunning beauty of the images of our beautiful planet.
Please do your part to save our Earth!
